2022-09-16 13:32:18 +0000 UTC View Posta little Victorian moment not that I have any vested interest in the British monarchy, but it’s wild that this era of clothing was named after Queen Victoria, who’s father (King George the III) was the same King we declared independence from. Seems like awhile ago but in the grand scheme of time, it’s not much. Heard an interesting fact about Queen Elizabeth, who passed away yesterday: she was Queen for nearly a third of US history. Bananas. Anyway, this is an 1890s black lace Victorian coat that I had a few moments to play around with this morning 🖤👸🏻
2022-09-09 15:17:15 +0000 UTC View Posthope y’all had a nice holiday weekend here’s a lil motivation to get back to it this week 🚀
2022-09-06 23:32:18 +0000 UTC View Posthappy Monday y’all ♥️ this is a 1950s/early 60s black sheer negligee with red ribbon trim. It has the original Sears label (back when department store lingerie was popular)!
2022-08-29 17:32:13 +0000 UTC View Postthis might be the raddest jacket I’ve ever sold it’s a purple satin, fully embroidered military souvenir jacket with embroidered dragon liberty cuffs. liberty cuffs are an unauthorized decorative embroidery done on the insides of the cuffs popularized in the navy before WW1. during leave (or “liberty” away from the ship) the cuffs would be rolled up where the designs could be seen. dragons and mermaids were a popular design used throughout the navy during WW2. this thing hung on the wall of the shop for maybe 48 hours before it sold 💜
2022-08-25 16:18:38 +0000 UTC View PostY’all know I love a good kimono robe. This one’s from the 70s in purple polyester with a crane pattern on it. It was made in Japan but definitely has a different vibe than earlier kimonos (20s-1940s) I usually come across and I was feeling it 💜
2022-08-11 23:12:48 +0000 UTC View PostThe doctor will see you now 🩺💋 Okay if y’all follow my shops Instagram, I came into a really neat find for the shop. These white coats belonged to a physician who worked for LSU and Charity Hospital. The first coat is from the 1950s and the second from later in his career. I tracked down who these belonged to and the physician who owned these was one of the pioneers in emergency medicine residency trainings at Charity hospital which is a remarkable feat and an awesome piece of medical history for here in New Orleans. For those whose interest is piqued, I make Tik Toks on the history of pieces in the shop - go check it out for more.
2022-08-09 18:32:06 +0000 UTC View PostHopefully this’ll brighten your Monday Got my hands on some vintage cup-less bras. The dress is a 1970s goddess-cut nightgown (I’ve posted it here before) but it’s what’s underneath that’s new. Here’s a vintage white front-closure cupless bra with cross straps Enjoy 💋
2022-08-01 18:11:10 +0000 UTC View PostHello from your favorite vintage shopkeep, here modeling a 1950s denim chore coat because I got all my chores done today 💋 More seriously, denim chore coats are HOT right now. Denim chore coats were designed as workwear coats in the late 19th century in France and were typically worn by those enduring tough physical work: railroad workers, farmers, etc. They were made slightly oversized to throw on over overalls and by the 1920s, we’re widely manufactured. This one is a 1950s Hercules denim chore coat with a blanket liner with a perfect wear to it.
2022-07-26 21:45:36 +0000 UTC View PostHey y’all, Been a busy few days but we’ve got some new pieces in the shop. I snagged this one to try on tonight. This is a 1960s sheer nylon lingerie nightgown with lace trim and flows like a dream. In case it wasn’t obvious before, I’m expecting. Don’t make it weird. (I don’t think it’s weird - this is my third baby and I’m always amazed at how my body changes. If this look isn’t your jam, enjoy the ride and how my breasts have quadrupled in size. You can envision my voracious appetite for food and otherwise. Silently. Don’t send me unsolicited pics. Hopefully that helps.)
2022-07-22 01:25:34 +0000 UTC View PostIf I was a military academy cadet 🫡 This is a 1941 military academy formal jacket covered in pins, patches and other decorative recognition from the cadet’s time at Culver Academy. For those that follow along on the shop’s IG, we also have purple satin athletic wrestling shorts with patched on awards, and a hoodie with the traditional Culver patches from that same time period. All came into the shop at the same time, from different sources, totally coincidentally. Likely the cadets that owned these items saw wartime, although we’re still looking through the graduation and draft lists to try to pin down what happened to them upon graduation. For the detail oriented: the Culver iconography is a beaver, the irony of which isn’t lost on me.
2022-07-15 21:09:25 +0000 UTC View Postlady in the red dress 💋 this is a late 1960s/early 1970s red slip dress and a handmade swamp charm (it’s a chicken’s foot on a vintage rosary) I liked this piece so much after trying it on that I kept it for myself

2022-07-05 22:02:03 +0000 UTC View PostHappy 4th! Here’s to hoping I get my hands on some sparklers! 🌟 for those keeping track, I’m not wearing a 1960s sheer open-front nightgown with velvet trim
2022-07-04 15:24:22 +0000 UTC View PostIt’s my birthday today! 💋🎈 Here’s me in my birthday suit (with a lil 1940s sheer over it) 🖤
2022-07-01 21:37:45 +0000 UTC View Postwhat a women’s bathing suit in the 1920s looked like this thing is 100% wool and itchy as hell. the whole thing slides on (you step into it) and it buttons at the top on one side. it’s got attached shorts underneath the skirt. this one still has the original label - the Monarch bathing suit company - and they’re hard to find nowadays. This came from an old, long abandoned general store a few states away, found by friends of ours.

2022-06-28 13:09:34 +0000 UTC View PostOh, this old thing? This is a 1960s black sheer chiffon babydoll nightie and matching side-tie panties. Hope this is a good start to your week 💋
2022-06-26 17:51:41 +0000 UTC View PostIt’s hot outside. This is about as publicly undressed as one could get in the early 20th century during the summer months. This is a 1920s light blue silk summer dress. It’s designed like a slip but has detailing intended to be worn and seen as a stand-alone dress. It feels and flutters like a dream 💙
2022-06-24 18:13:55 +0000 UTC View PostIn good company On the mantle are photos of New Orleans burlesque stars from the 1950s (Tempest Storm, Blaze Starr and perhaps the most famous, Evangeline the Oyster Girl), old collectible postcards of Billie Holiday, signed photos of Irma Thomas and 1950s hand fans from Hong Kong airlines (back when flying was a luxury experience)
2022-06-22 14:37:02 +0000 UTC View PostMFW it’s Monday and I have to get out of bed. Especially in this heat wave. Armchair is a 1940s leather armchair (super comfy despite the age). The terrifying looking teddy bear framed poster is a “pin the berries to the teddy bear” children’s game from 1919, when the popularity of Teddy Roosevelt became commercialized. This was the (god awful scary and dangerous - they used tiny razor-sharp nails as pins) precursor to pin Pin The Tail On The Donkey games we see today.
2022-06-20 18:10:58 +0000 UTC View PostA little sneak preview of a new kimono and these neat swamp charms from the shop The kimono is a 1970s embroidered teal robe. The charms are painted chicken feet attached to a vintage rosary and traditionally are worn, or hung above a homes entrance, to gather good luck. They come in all different colors and they’re made down in the bayou.
2022-06-18 16:35:15 +0000 UTC View PostOur last kimono in the shop just sold! Glad I got to try it on before it went into its next home. This is a mid century golden yellow brocade kimono style robe with thick embroidery down the back. Happy Friday :) 💛
2022-06-17 17:38:10 +0000 UTC View PostA little history on bed jackets this morning: Sheer, lace and frilly bed jackets were popularized in 1930s in men’s playboy films (from where Playboy gets its namesake) where starlets of the films would don them in the evening over lingerie. They were used to allure, and create subtle mystery about what’s underneath (and less about warmth). By the 1940s & 50s they rose in popularity with women, and became an expected part of their sleepwear for a woman of stature. It was also customary to gift one when a woman was admitted to the hospital for illness or to give birth. These ones are from the 1950s. We had more in other colors and designs but they sold before I had a chance to try them on!
2022-06-13 17:02:44 +0000 UTC View Posthappy Saturday y’all! what it might look like if this was the 1960s and I put on your robe in the morning instead of mine. This is a simple 1960s men’s navy-colored lounge robe made of thick cotton and shortened cuffs. Very heavy but very comfy.

2022-06-10 17:05:00 +0000 UTC View PostA 1970s nylon embroidered fringe shawl came into the shop. Every time I model a piece it sells almost immediately. The piece I wore in yesterday’s post sold an hour later! Instead of putting it in the display window on the mannequin I should just stand in the display window myself and model it 💋
